Sex Trafficking Hits Home
A Local EDH Crime
Modern day slavery is very real and it happens across the United States and right here in our own backyard. When we moved from Las Vegas to a sleepy suburb of Sacramento, I never dreamed that our family would be directly affected by this heinous crime. However, our 17 year-old was abducted from the local grocery store, taken to a motel in the Bay Area, drugged, pimped out through ads on Craigslist and repeatedly raped by men looking for sex with under-age girls.
Thankfully, my daughter was rescued. But, hundreds of thousands of American children are at risk of living under the same conditions my daughter experienced. In an effort to help rescue and restore these precious young victims, a group of local parents have established a 501c3, Run For Courage, (RFC) and have vowed to raise money through running races and research organizations that restore victims. In doing this they hope to give to the helpless and hopeless. Last year in RFC’s first annual event 726 runners raised over $41,000 and the proceeds went to an organization which restores victims.
The value of the Run For Courage organization lies in their ability to employ their evaluate, donate, and monitor methodology to determine those organizations to whom should receive funds each year. This year RFC will again use their expertise to ensure your dollars go directly to the services these children so desperately need.
