Folsom Race – September 29th, 2012

The beautiful Parkway Trails will be the setting once again of the Run For Courage-Folsom race. The Folsom race will have both its signature 5K and 10K races start in the “big field.”

The Folsom organizers are looking to have over 3,000 runners and walkers come out for the Race to End Sex Trafficking, so there will more than likely be wave starts to accomodate all participants. “We are thrilled to be under way with our planning,” said Stephanie Loos who is in charge of Course Logistics.

According to the Co-Director of Course Logistics Heather Olson, “Our mission remains the same as years past, to raise awareness and funds to combat sex trafficking. We have an exceptional team that works to meet all the needs of the runners and walkers so that we can ultimately accomplish the Run For Courage mission.”

Run For Courage will also be stepping up their fundraising opportunities for both teams and individuals. “We have the opportunity to make substantial changes in the lives of victims when we raise more funds, so we are not shy about making this a priority”, say Loos.

Look for registration to be open soon. ” We are shooting for a March 12th to open registration,” say Loos. “We will make the announcement on our website, newsletters, and e-mail. Please remember to invite friends to join you this year! As always we could not rasie the funds we do without your cooperation and support, so thank you!”

Vicki Zito – RFC Co-Founder and Dir. Beneficiary Programs

Unfortunately Vicki came to know the term and reality of “sex trafficking” because her 17 year old daughter was taken from their suburban grocery store and trafficked for 8 days between the Bay Area and Sacramento. Her daughter was sold on Craigs List and drugged before she was rescued by the FBI innocence lost task force. This happened almost 4 years ago and Vicki continues to fight against this henious crime. A year and a half ago Vicki and three friends founded Run For Courage as a way to raise awareness and funds to combat sex trafficking. Vicki works tirelessly to give voice to the innocent who do not have a voice. She and her daughter will be seen on the Dr. Phil show this month. We will send a clip with the air date. Vicki is also a BSN, RN and currently works for BloodSource where she manages the Collections Training Dept. When she is not working with the RFC team, she is working to protect the safety of another precious resource; blood and blood products. Vicki has been an RN for 17 years and has a myriad if experience with trauma and emergent care. She currently resides with her husband of 18 years and 4 children in the beautiful community of El Dorado Hills. Vicki dreams of a day when children will no longer be sold for sex, until then she will continue to speak out to raise awareness about this crime.
