Beneficiary Profile – Wind Youth Services
The mission of Wind Youth Services is to engage youth who are experiencing homelessness and need safety from the streets and access to resources to help them move from crisis to healthy functioning and independence.
Wind Youth Services opened in 1994 in Sacramento by The Sisters of Social Service as a daytime drop-in save haven for homeless teenagers seeking refuge and survival services, including youth who are victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking. In 2004 the shelter expanded to a large 12-bed facility in Northern Sacramento. In 2003 the Wind Education Day Program was developed in conjunction with the Twin Rivers School District Community Collaborative Charter Schools to provide an accredited on site junior high and high school curriculum. Students work toward earning credits toward graduation and improving their social skills. In 2007, the Wind Youth Center officially opened combining the Day Center and Education Programs under one roof, thereby separating the youth from the adult homeless population.
RFC Team Member Profile – Teresa Kelley, CFO
Teresa Kelley knew Vicki Zito for five years when their children were on the local swim team together. In 2010 upon hearing the news that Vicki’s daughter went missing, Teresa and other concerned family and friends banded together in prayer for Vicki’s daughter’s safe return. After her rescue, as details of her ordeal came to light that the daughter of her friend had actually been kidnapped, transported between cities and trafficked for sex for eight days, Teresa became keenly interested in helping all victims of this horrific crime.
Possessing over 25 years of experience in corporate accounting and operations management, Kelley joined Run for Courage as their Chief Financial Officer in 2010 and Rolling Hills Christian Church as their Chief Operation Officer in 2011. She was formerly CFO Premier Power Renewable Energy and Vista Point Technologies were she was chiefly responsible for leading the company’s global finance, planning and accounting for their rapid growth businesses in the U.S. and international markets. She began her professional career as a financial analyst at Intel Corporation. At Intel, she held several management positions before becoming the Senior Controller in the Intel Networking business. During her seven years as Senior Controller, Kelley helped the business grow from $60 million to $3 billion, supervised approximately 15 completed acquisitions and mergers and managed the cost accounting for all of Intel’s manufacturing and construction. Kelley also served as Senior Controller of Intel’s information technology, human resources, legal and finance organizations, which covered 15,000 employees with a $2 billion budget.
Teresa loves to stay fit, run spend any of her downtime with her four daughters and husband in the beautiful California outdoors. An avid reader, she enjoys both light hearted and intellectual learning books. One of her favorites includes The Hole In The Gospel by Richard Stern, CEO of World Vision who asks “What does God expect of us?” Run For Courage is thrilled to have Teresa as an important member of the team.
